Lavenham CLT Win Awards

On Thursday 18 October 2018, the finalists for the Stars of Babergh and Mid Suffolk awards gathered at St Mary’s Church in Hadleigh for a star-studded event to celebrate their outstanding efforts in the community.

The Lavenham Community Land Trust were one of the 150 entries and the church was packed with businesses and individuals who have all played a vital role in making the district what it is today. 

The CLT won the Babergh Community Project of the Year Award for the Peek Close development of 18 affordable homes in Lavenham.  The organisers' citation reads: "Lavenham CLT formed in 2016 to provide much needed affordable homes for local people. LCLT have worked in partnership with Babergh DC, Hastoe Housing Association and CLT East to purchase disused land on the outskirts of the village and 18 new-energy efficient homes are being built for local households."

Lavenham CLT and Hastoe Housing win Best Partnership (South) award at the Inside Housing Development Awards

Lavenham Community Land Trust and rural housing specialist, Hastoe Housing Association has won the 'Best Partnership (South)' category at the Inside Housing Development Awards, which celebrates the very best of residential development all ober the UK and relates to the Peek Close development.

At the last awards, Hastoe's collaboration with Southwold Hospital won 'Best Community Rural Partnership'. This time it picked up the trophy for its collaboration with Lavenham Community Land Trust (CLT), an organisation set up by community leaders in Lavenham, Suffolk, fuelled by a desire to provide more affordable housing in the village.

According to Zoopla, house prices in lavenham have risen by 43% in the past ten years, pricing many out of the market. The CLT were determined to take the future of their neigbourhood into their own hands and reached out to Hastoe to help bring their vision of affordable homes for local people to life.
